πŸ“Š Vestings and Cliffs

Vesting means that instead of getting your equity all at once, it's given to you in small amounts over a designated period of time. At ReadMe, stock fully vests over four years. So, if you leave ReadMe after two years, you get half of your initial equity grant, but if you stay the full four you get it all!

Because accounting can get really confusing when everyone owns only a tiny amount of the company, a cliff exists to make sure it's a good long-term fit before stock is vested. ReadMe has a one-year cliff. This means, for a year from your start date no stock is vested, but on your first anniversary you get a full quarter of your equity! After that, equity is vested on a monthly basis until your four-year anniversary.

We do periodic refreshes, so that you can continue to earn more equity as time goes on.
